We have had several enquiries on how best to turn our radiator boosters on and off.

A radiator booster will give a positive flow of hot water to one, two, three, and even four radiators provided they are all in sequence on the same loop. It cannot boost just one radiator on the loop unless you can bypass that radiator. To fit a bypass simply connect a 15mm pipe between the inlet and outlet on a radiator with a valve you can turn on to bypass the radiator.

Depending on the loop you will find all you need is a single radiator booster but if you need more flow just fit a second radiator booster on or near a second radiator. There are 3 versions of Radiator Boosters and you can select the best one for you on WrightChoice Pumps.

Controlling the Radiator Booster
The radiator booster will not come to harm if run continuously but in common with the rest of your central heating it is better to control the pump so that it comes on only when you are at home (a timer), or when the room is cold. The 12 volt side of the transformer easily interfaces with room stats or the like as it is DIY safe.

The simplest way to operate a radiator booster is to switch the transformer on and off at the 3 pin plug socket by hand.

You can if you wish control the radiator booster by room temperature by wiring the booster to a room stat off the 12 volt side of the transformer.

Fit thermostat to radiator that does get hot.

Switch the transformer on and off with a 24 hour timer.
