Fitting of the SP22S next to hot water cylinder
You need to fit one automatic pump next to the hot water cylinder and below the vent pipe. First check that the pipe that you are intending to fit the automatic pump on gets hot when you run the tap or shower you wish to boost. Assuming it did get hot you need to also check that cold from the cold tank in the loft also feeds the shower or tap. Close valves A and C and run the tap or shower you want to boost on full cold and then full hot. On each ocassion the tap should stop running hot water and/or cold water in about 10 seconds. Closing valve between the bottom of the cold tank and the bottom of the hot water cylinder will trap water within the cylinder itself and if the valve does let water by then you can cut into empty 22mm pipes.

Closing valve between the bottom of the cold tank and the bottom of the hot water cylinder will trap water within the cylinder itself.

Run the shower or the taps you want to boost and the water will stop within 10 seconds. Do not open taps downstairs if you can avoid this because you will get lots of air in the system.

If the water does not stop then you need to close valve A to stop water getting into the cold tank, or close the stop tap on the incoming mains feed to your property which is normally under the kitchen sink. Continue to drain all the water in the cold water tank using a cold tap to save the hot water in the cylinder. You will need to take a trip to the plumbers merchant and buy a replacement for valve A, valve B, or both. I recommend that you buy a lever valves.

Now you have a dry pipe the rest is easy. Cut out and remove two 110mm lengths of 22mm pipe at the position you want to fit the SP22S. Use a 22mm pipe slice (see below)

When tightening the compression joints never hold on to the motor to stop the fitting turning. The best way to stop the fitting turning is to use two adjustables
