Why is an Affordable Heat Store so Amazing
The affordable heat store takes a simple tank and stores twice as much energy in half the volume of water when compared with our nearest competitors (see the validation videos published by the University of East Anglia using this link). The UEA and Norwich City Council are excited by the prospect of this game changing step forward not only because renewable energy can be stored one week in this small tank and used the next week, but also the huge water savings that this technology enables.

A standard tank with a power shower can deliver 2 or 3 hot showers
A standard tank with a ShowerPowerBooster can deliver more than twice as many hot showers
A standard tank with an Affordable Heat Store Device can deliver 14 perfect hot showers.

The pilot will cover Norfolk and our target is 1,000 Affordable Heat Stores retrofitted in homes plus 2,000 fitted in “New Build”.

As a participant of the scheme, as well as immediate energy and water savings, you will have the bonus of a negotiated low energy tariff.

The Norwich City Affordable Heat Store Pilot is government funded pilot which will replace Power Showers with ShowerPowerBoosters and it starts on 1st September 2025. Some homes in Norwich City will enjoy free installation but all homes will enjoy showers at half the cost they are paying today.

In a typical household, heating water accounts for roughly 12% to 18% of the total energy consumption. While this may seem lower compared to space heating, it’s a significant expense because hot water is needed year-round.

This technology reduces water bills, energy bills, and because air source heat pumps will need to only provide central heating their cost will be 50% less.

The University of East Anglia are carrying out a  study to pioneer and validate  this new hybrid heating system

Norwich’s housing stock includes a mix of different dwelling types. There are flats, houses, bungalows, and bedsits, according to Norwich City Council. Specifically Norwich City Council manages 7,392 flats and maisonetts, 5880 houses, 867 bungalows, and 70 bedsits, plus care homes. Its managers are tasked with decarbonising over 14,000 properties.

This innovation is part of an amazing family of proven innovations which together score a full five stars on trustpilot.
