Purchase Cost – Cheaper than any other solution
ShowerPowerBooster vs Power Showers. vs Electric Showers
The ShowerPowerBooster SP2B costs £125 and has all you need in order to fit one to an existing 22mm or 15mm pipe. A SP2B retrofitted onto existing pipes requires no additional pipework or fittings. Power Showers need extra new pipework and a Surrey Flange typically making the material cost twice as expensive when compared to a SP2B.
Compared with an electric shower the SP2B is about the same as a SP2B but there is cabling required for an electric shower but not for a SP2B.
Fitting Cost (Plumbing & Electrical Work) – Cheaper than any other solution
Typically a SP2B can be fitted in under 30 minutes, no electrician is required , Fitting a SP2B will cost half that of a Power Shower or an Electric Shower.
Fitting Times – Quicker than any other solution
ShowerPowerBooster 30 minutes (Plumber only – no electrician required)
A power Shower 4 hours (Total for both a plumber and an electrician)
An electric Shower 2 hours (Total for plumber and an electrician)
Saving Water – Saves more water saving than any other solution
The optimum shower is one that washes away suds quickly and effectively. Any shower which dispenses water at a rate less than 5 litres a minute will struggle to wash away suds quickly. An electric shower giving 3.7 litres a minute will take twice as long to shower subject to the length of your hair. Any thing greater than 6 litres a minute will waste water.
In addition to volume of water the spread of the spray from a shower heads is also important. A pressure head of 2 to 3 metres is optimal for a good spray pattern.
A small 7.5 KW electric shower will give 3.5 litres a minute.
A big 12.5 KW electric shower will give 6 litres a minute.
A Power Shower is reputed to give 12 litres a minute
A typical flow from a SP2B is 5 to 6 litres a minute.
Cost of Showering – Cheaper than any other solution
An electric shower between the hours of 7.00 and 8.00 or in the evening will be using peak electricity which will be x3 that of water heated with electricity just before 7.00 and stored in a hot water cylinder. A Power Shower uses twice as much water compared to a SP2B. A SP2B uses 15 watts of power to run, the smallest Power Shower 280 Watts, and electric shower 3,700 watts.
Life of Product – Longer than any other solution
The SP2B has a full three year warranty at no additional cost but we expect them to last a lot longer.
