PROTECTED FLOW SOLUTION (GRAVITY HOT AND COLD)
SP2B on Hot Only – PAGE 14 DIAGRAM 14.2
Why boost just the hot before a shower or tap
If you have a shower or a tap which fluctuates in pressure when somebody opens another hot tap in the home then a single pump on the hot pipe that feeds that tap or shower can be protected and boosted with a SP2B so that it no longer fluctuates. If opening a cold tap has a similar effect you need to boost the cold as well.

Fitting of the SP2B on a dedicated pipe.
You need to fit the SP2B on a pipe which feeds just the tap, the shower, or an entire bathroom you want to protect. First check that the pipe that you are intending to fit the SP2B on gets hot when you run the tap or shower you wish to boost and protect.
To check that you can fit the pump onto a dry pipe turn valve B clockwise close. This valve will be somewhere between the bottom of the cold water tank and the bottom of the hot water cylinder. Closing this valve this will trap water within the cylinder itself.
Run the shower or the taps or shower you want to boost and protect. The water will stop within 10 seconds. If you do get a slight dribble just part open a tap downstairs tap and the dribble will stop.
When you have a dry pipe the rest is easy. Cut out and remove a 110mm length of 22mm pipe at the position you want to fit the SP2B. Use a 15mm pipe slice or 22mm pipe slice (see below).
If the water is more than a dribble and does not stop then you need to close valve A to stop water getting into the cold tank or close the stop tap on the incoming mains feed to your property which is normally under the kitchen sink. Continue to drain all the water in the cold water tank. You will need to take a trip to the plumbers merchant and buy a replacement for valve A. I recommend that you buy a lever valve.

Now you have a dry pipe the rest is easy. Cut out and remove a 110mm length of 22mm pipe at the position you want to fit the SP2B. Use a 22mm pipe slice (see below)

When tightening the compression joints never hold on to the motor to stop the fitting turning. The best way to stop the fitting turning is to use two adjustables
