I was contacted on the 2nd November 2022 by a customer who wants to replace his existing twin volute Power Shower with a ShowerPowerBooster. With the correct shower mixer and shower head a ShowerPowerBooster will directly replace a Power Shower at a fraction of the cost to install and run. https://showerpowerbooster.co.uk/blog/two-15-watt-showerpowerboosters-have-the-same-effect-as-a-3kw-power-shower/

Mark sent the following picture of his tank and pipework:-

Hot Water Cylinder and Pipework

It is possible to boost individual showers and taps but my focus is to replace the traditional power shower and boost every tap and shower in the home with a single double boost SP21S (£155). The house was served by gravity hot and mains pressure cold until the existing Power Shower was installed. The Power Shower needed an additional 22mm pipe from the cold tank in the loft to be fitted. We will be double boosting all the hot water with a SP21S and putting the cold mains pressure to the shower so there is no need to boost the cold. This is the sequence of work.

Sequence of Work – Plumbing
1. Shut the valve on the 22mm cold pipe between the bottom of the cold tank in the loft and the bottom.
This should hold all of the water in the hot water cylinder.
2. Turn on an hot upstairs tap.
The water should stop in just a few seconds but keep the tap open.
If the hot water does not Stop then you need to replace the valve which is not working.
3 Close the 22mm hot and cold valves and remove the Power Shower.
Keeping the shower mixer valve closed until you are ready to deal with water trapped in the Power Shower pipework .
A couple of towels to keep thing dry will help.
4. There is a convenient 15mm cold water mains pipe next to the 22mm gravity cold pipe which used to feed the Power Shower. Connect this 15mm mains fed pipe to the 22mm cold pipe that used to run from the Power Shower to the shower mixer. You have now dealt with the cold feed to all your taps and showers – no need to boost the cold.
5. The 22mm vertical hot pipe from the hot water cylinder should be dry so remove the 22mm x 22mm Tee which used to take water to the Power Shower and fit your first ShowerPowerBooster. Fit the second ShowerPowerBooster either before or after the first.

Sequence of Work – Electrical

You are better to have a 3 pin socket wired in from the junction box so you can plug in the 12 volt power supply that comes with the ShowerPowerBooster you bought. We sell a 3 metre cable to get power from a remote socket if preferred.

Wire up the SP21S in accordance with the fitting manual https://showerpowerbooster.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/FlowflexShowerManual_2022_V2.pdf
