As the inventor of the ShowerPowerBooster I have written many posts to try and explain the essence of the science behind the ShowerPowerBooster and sometimes my customers explain the effect of a ShowerPowerBooster better than any glib sales pitch. The email reproduced below from Andrew dated 5th September 2022 (14:51) is about a real life swap of a 3KW Power Shower with our SP22S ShowerPowerBooster kit. First read the email and then my explanation as to why the SP22S was better that the big Power Shower. Just a SPB on the hot and cold will suffice but for real luxury switching the cold to mains pressure and double boosting the hot with a SP21S, or keep your gravity hot and cold double boost hot and cold, gives you that luxury shower using half the water consumption of most power showers.
There are two YouTube videos below which were sent to me by customers if you want to see what customers can expect.
I have to assume that people who buy my pumps have low pressure and boosting the pressure up to that required gives the customer a good shower. If a customer already has a good shower and good pressure without a ShowerPowerBooster then the SPB will not improve the flow or pressure. The SPB is a retrofit solution that only solves pressure problems if you have a pressure problem. Most people will not need to fit my pumps because they already have a good shower and good showers will not be boosted – only bad showers get boosted with a SPB. If in doubt as to what is a good shower google ‘ShowerPowerBooster – What is a good shower’. If you have a pressure problem read on:-
Email From Andrew (un edited),
Hi, last week, having spoken to one of your colleagues on the phone, I ordered an SP22S 2x pumps to boost Hot and Cold water to both my bath filler and thermostatic mixing rain shower, and although the bank holiday delayed arrival, it arrived within the 2 working days that you said it would.
I installed it this weekend, in place of a recently purchased Salamon 3bar pump, and am absolutely delighted to say that:
– it was entirely suitable for boosting my bath filler and rain shower, which would otherwise be unusable;
– even before I fit my bath panel, it can barely be heard above the running water, compared to the unbearable din of its predecessor;
– It has fitted into the tiniest of spaces under my bath (thank god for push-fit fittings), unlike the convoluted (but now redundant and removed) pipe work I had had to run for its predecessor
– and although I am out of pocket on the salmon pump, your solution was cheaper (wish I had seen it when I first did my research).
I am literally over the moon. Hope the pumps continues to serve me well for many years too come; and I may still buy another kit for another planned bathroom; or for my existing electric shower.
Thank you and best wishes.

Wow and Why.
The ‘colleague’ on the phone was actually me as Gemma who works for me in the Flowflex Office was on holiday leave. I remember this call and when Andrew said that he was replacing a pump 100 times bigger I decided to just tell him it would work.
Despite misinformation and alternative truth spread by those who want to sell big noisy power showers, a normal shower needs perhaps 3 metres head and 6 litres a minute to give and good refreshing spray and spay pattern. Trying to force more water at higher pressures through a shower head is likely to lead to very little increase in effectiveness and has many negative effects.
Pressure
As soon as you have enough pressure for a good spray pattern additional pressure is unimportant and creating additional pressure above that which is needed results in you wasting electricity as this extra electricity is simply turned into noise and turbulence.
Volume
You need enough volume of water to efficiently wash away suds and this is at its peak of efficiency at 6 litres a minute. Less than 6 litres a minute and a shower takes longer so you end up using more water and energy. More than 6 litres a minute and the shower still takes around about the same time because thats human nature and the length of the shower is more dependant on how quickly you apply hair cream etc. A typical Power Shower claiming to give 12 litres a minute would use twice the energy and water of a shower enabled by a ShowerPowerBooster.
You can achieve a 40% reduction in water consumption and up to 8 perfect showers if you switch from a power shower to a ShowerPowerBooster solution.
Correct Pressure plus Correct Volume = Happy Custome
