I have a 10.5kw electric shower and if a tap is opened or a toilet is flushed I get a drop in pressure and shower goes cold as the electric shower safety heater cuts off. My shower mains supply is the 2nd last connection in my mains line (last one is the toilet). The mains is in the loft as is the combi boiler which it is tapped from this supply. Now for my questions
Where would be the best place to fit your pump?
Answer:- The mains pipe is feeding lots of things so the trick is to reprioritise the flow. Water is lazy and always wants to take the easy route so give it the chance to go through a tap or the suction inlet to a pump and it chooses the pump every time. Put our pump on a pipe which feeds both a shower and a toilet for instance and the toilet takes priority, put our pump just after the tee so it is on the pipe that just feeds the shower and the shower takes priority.
Can it be fitted to plastic pipe?
Answer:- Yes – the outside diameter of the plastic pipe is the same as copper so just get some inserts to stiffen the plastic pipe and thats perfect.
As the problem is only on shower can I switch the pump on and off when I switch my shower pull switch on. Does the pump sense the flow of water/pressure when not used so does not run?
Answer:- You have two choices:-
1.0 Manual Shower Power Booster with the transformer wired into the same switch to come on and switch off at the same time as the electric shower.
2.0 Fully Automatic SP2B Shower Power Booster which senses the flow and turns on only when you need it.
