On a gravity fed system, the only thing pushing water to your shower is the height of the tank above it. There’s no mains pressure behind the hot at all. That’s why the shower dribbles, why the hot so often feels weaker than the cold, and why it fades the moment somebody runs a tap downstairs.
Whilst you may have been told that a gravity system can’t be improved without ripping it out and starting again, that isn’t the case. The Shower Power Booster was designed for exactly this kind of plumbing. It’s a small pump that fits onto your existing pipework and gives the water the push that gravity alone can’t.
