Unlike a traditional power shower, a shower power booster can be anywhere between the hot water cylinder and the shower. A traditional power shower will cavitate and burn out if fitted a long way from a hot water cylinder.
For most customers a single SP2B is all you need and the easiest place to fit it is still near the hot water cylinder. This is simply because it is easy to get at, and there is likely to be a power point to plug it in.
The flow rate for a good shower is typically 6 litres a minute which is ample to wash suds from long hair. Using a spray with less than 6 litres a minute could mean you need a longer time to shower and you will use more water!!!
Traditional plumbers will say you need a 22mm pipe to supply a bath, and 15mm pipework to feed a shower. For a hot shower needing to mix 2/3 hot to 1/3rd cold to get a hot shower, the head loss in a 15mm pipe is next to nothing.
Increasing the diameter of a pipe feeding a shower from 15mm to 22mm is entirely negative. Not only is it not reducing pressure loss in any measurable way, but a large volume of hot water moving slowly in a big pump will cool on its way to the shower and waste energy between showers.
From my own research I have found that feeding a shower with a 10mm pipe is better because not only does the water get to the shower hotter and quicker with less water to cool between showers, but the increased velocity will clear air locks.
