Description
This WrightChoice Mini-Micro Pump can be used for radiators or it can be used to turn any hot water cylinder into a heat store.
Radiators
If you have one or more lazy or cold radiators — on any system type — then the V1 Radiator Flow Booster is likely the fix.
Almost every heating system has one: the radiator that never quite warms up. Usually it’s the furthest from the boiler — the end of the run, where the flow arrives tired. You’ve bled it, you’ve balanced the others down to feed it, and it’s still lukewarm while the rest of the house cooks.
Whilst you may have been told the only fixes are a bigger heating pump or new pipework, a small booster on the right pipe does it.
The V1 Radiator Flow Booster is based on the same pump technology as our shower boosters, adapted for central heating. It fits on 22mm or 15mm pipe and can be hidden anywhere along the flow to the problem radiator — under floorboards, behind a panel, wherever is convenient. It speeds up the flow of hot water to bring the radiator back to temperature.
It works on any system type — combi, gravity, mains or unvented — because a lazy radiator is a flow problem, not a boiler problem.
Q: How is this different from balancing my radiators? A: Balancing shares the existing flow around; it can’t create more. When the flow simply runs out before the last radiator, the V1 adds the push that’s missing.
Q: My radiator is cold at the bottom, not overall — will this fix it? A: Cold at the bottom is usually sludge, which needs a flush. Cold or slow-to-warm all over, especially far from the boiler, is a flow problem — that’s the V1.
Q: Where does it hide? A: Anywhere on the flow pipe — under the floor, in a cupboard, behind the kickboard. Once fitted you shouldn’t notice it at all.
Heat Stores
By creating a link between the hot outlet and cold inlet of any hot water cylinder you can heat 100% of the water in that cylinder with just a single immersion heater. This pump can be set to circulate 1.5 litres a minute within the cylinder and store four times the energy of the original hot water cylinder. You can use 100% free or cheap off peak electricity to heat 100% of your hot water – just turn your oil or gas boiler off during the summer.
