Description
If you have two bathrooms running off one combi boiler and both showers run weak, then the two SP22S twin packs are the best option for you.
With two bathrooms on one combi, the morning rush becomes a competition. Whoever showers second gets the weaker deal, and every open tap in between makes both showers surge and fade. A combi can only share out the water it’s given, so as demand rises the pressure at each shower falls.
Whilst you may have been told two decent showers on one combi isn’t possible, there is now a pump pack that fixes it.
The SP22S for combi boilers is a pack of two WRAS-approved automatic booster pumps — the same pump as our SP2B uses, twice over, with a single 3-amp transformer and the linking cables included. Fit one pump on the hot pipe feeding each shower and one on the cold so every shower gets its own protection: pressure boosted, flow held steady, temperature kept level when taps open elsewhere. Each pump protects flow rates up to 6 L/min for showers; 8.5 L/min for mixed tap flow.
Both pumps detect flow and start by themselves — no switches, nothing to turn on. WRAS approval means the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme — the UK’s independent water safety certification — has verified the pumps are safe to fit to the pipes that supply your home.
Q: What’s the difference between the SP22S and buying two SP2Bs?
A: The pumps are the same. The SP22S pack gives you both pumps with one 3-amp transformer and the cables to link them, so it’s the simpler and better-value way to do two showers.
Q: Will the SP22S stop my boiler cutting out?
A: Yes & No — Yes, if it’s just low flow from the boiler that’s the problem but low mains pressure is a different problem with a different fix. If the boiler delivers only scalding hot water or shuts off during use, you probably need the SP21S fitted on the incoming mains before the boiler.
Q: Can the pipes feeding each bathroom be identified near the boiler?
A: Yes — You will feel which pipes get hot when you run each shower separately
